'Leonard House' was one of the few commercial works designed by Walter Burley Griffin and his wife, Marion Mahoney Griffin. It was an eightlevel building and constructed in 1924 of highly original design. Its most remarkable feature was a window-wall that covered the entire seven storeys. Beside a retail site occupied by Buckley and Nunn since 1851, architects Bates, Smart and McCutcheon designed a ground level and three upper levels of retail space to be completed by builders E.A.Watts in 1934.
